NFL rumors and potential landing spots for QB’s.

Guess whose back!

Greetings y’all. Here is my latest installment of The Daily Dive. It has been a while but I have been busy, busy.

I am going to look at some rumors I have been hearing about the NFL QB’s and their potential landing spots for next year and things of that nature.

First, I am going to look at the Kirk Cousins situation. The Washington Redskins starting QB.
Kirk Cousins is playing on his second Franchise Tag and is earning $23.9 million in 2017. Cousins is the first NFL QB to play under the franchise tag for a second consecutive season. Here’s what the Redskins per Bruce Allen offered Kirk –
Courtesy ESPN.
"Our goal was to sign Kirk to a long-term contract with the final objective of having him finish his career with the Redskins," Allen said Monday in the statement. "On May 2, right after the draft, we made Kirk an offer that included the highest fully guaranteed amount upon signing for a quarterback in NFL history ($53 million) and guaranteed a total of $72 million for injury. The deal would have made him at least the second highest-paid player by average per year in NFL history.”

Now here is what I have been hearing where he might be going because I do not see him playing for the Redskins next year.

San Francisco 49ERS – Nope – Not anymore because they signed Jimmy Garoppolo which he could end up being their potential starting QB.

Denver Broncos – Neither Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch is the answer but there’s a decent chance but I think with Eli Manning potentially hitting the market next year. Who knows?

New York Jets – Josh McCowan is more than likely gone next year and rumors say that Sam Donaldson will stay another year if the Jets or Browns are ranked 1st or 2nd in the NFL Draft next year. So this one is more than likely a probability and I seem them breaking the bank

Cleveland Browns – He could be deemed the “savior” but I only see him going there if the Browns completely clean house and start over.

 Tyrod Taylor

This one is very fascinating. When they benched Tyrod for Nathan Peterman, I was shocked! You’re (The Bills) are the thick of things in the AFC playoff race and you bench your best chance to win for an unproven rookie??  I think Tyrod Taylor is a good QB not the best a potential stopgap for an 1st round draft choice       for a team or a team that is a position away from making a major splash in the playoffs.

Here are the potential landing spots.

Denver Broncos – I heard the Broncos were actually interested in Taylor in 2015. However, someone named Peyton Manning was still in town. However, as off 2108 it is quite possible.

New York Jets – current QB is on the roster, Christian Hackenberg and Joh MCCowan. This addition will be an improvement

Cleveland Browns – They will make every list unfortunately.

Last but not least.

Case Keenum.

Case is playing lights out now. I know he is a journeyman but he rather reminds me of Kurt Warner. That kind of Cinderella story ya know.

I am hearing that Case Keenum has been playing well but they have Teddy Bridgewater and he is ready to jump back into the mix. Sam Bradford I think has played his last snap for the Vikings and possibly for the NFL.

Here’s what I’m hearing even though Case Keenum is paying really well unless they win the Super Bowl which is a possibly they’re going to get rid of him next year as he’s a free agent and go with Bridgewater next year. Case will be signed with The Washington Redskins on a 2-year deal.

Case Keenum

Teddy Bridgeater

It is crazy but it is a business and nothing in the NFL surprises me anymore.

Well until next time.

By the way here's my SUPERBOWL LII Prediction.

         VS
NFL Playoff Picture As of 21/11/2017

No. 1 seed — Steelers (8-2): First place, AFC North

No. 2 seed — Patriots (8-2): First place, AFC East.

No. 3 seed — Jaguars (7-3): First place, AFC South. (Can you believe The Jags are 3rd! good for them!)

No. 4 seed — Chiefs (6-4): First place, AFC West.

No. 5 seed — Titans (6-4): Second place, AFC South. (I root for the underdog man. I am glad teams that has been suffering for years are in the playoff hunt).

No. 6 seed — Ravens (5-5): Second place, AFC North. (Sorry Bills, looks like you blew you chances with the QB change fiasco).

In The Hunt!
Who is right behind Bills (5-5), Dolphins (4-6), Jets (4-6).

Who is just about out Browns (0-10), Broncos (3-7), Colts (3-7), Raiders (4-6), Chargers (4-6), Texans (4-6), and Bengals (4-6).

No. 1 seed — Eagles (9-1): First place, NFC East.

No. 2 seed — Vikings (8-2): First place, NFC North.

No. 3 seed — Saints (8-2): First place, NFC South.

No. 4 seed — Rams (7-3): First place, NFC West. (Can you believe the Rams? I actually thought they would never sniff the playoff for at least another 5 years).

No. 5 seed — Panthers (7-3): Second place, NFC South.

No. 6 seed — Falcons (6-4): Third place, NFC South. Atlanta got a monstrous Monday night win at Seattle to jump back into wild-card position. (Good)

Who is right behind Lions (6-4), Seahawks (6-4), Packers (5-5), Cowboys (5-5), Redskins (4-6), and Cardinals (4-6).

Who is just about out 49ers (1-9), Giants (2-8), Bears (3-7), Buccaneers (4-6).

CTE – What is it? In addition, how it affects the NFL and its players.

Greetings,

I decided to talk about CTE because I came across an article on ESPN that say’s – Researchers: Study confirms CTE finding in player tested while living. Courtesy ESPN.

What is CTE? CTE or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy is a degenerative brain disease found in athletes, military veterans, and others with a history of repetitive brain trauma. In CTE, a protein called Tau forms clumps that spread slowly throughout the brain, killing brain cells. CTE has been seen in people as young as 17.

Symptoms for CTE includes.

Mood changes, including depression, irritability, and anxiety.

Headaches, a variety of treatment options exist for headache, including craniofacial therapy, massages.

Memory problems.

The best evidence available today suggest that CTE is not caused by any single injury, but rather it is caused by years of regular, repetitive brain trauma. It has been said that the collisions from Offensive Linemen 1 every single play is like 10 car accidents to the head.

CTE has been found in….

See below –

There has been 41 reported cases of CTE in deceased NFL players. Most of them I grew up watching.

I will be honest, at first when all this CTE stuff came out and the billion-dollar lawsuit followed, I thought it was just a quick money grab. Cause have you noticed it’s only the washed up players who spent all their money complaining about CTE? Have you also noticed that there is NO Hall of Famers or any NFL player who converted their NFL stardom to a comfortable broadcasting gig complaining of CTE? That was until I saw the movie Concussion starring Will Smith. That changed my thought process about what CTE is how it happens and what it can do to NFL players. The Mike Webster part of the movie was truly heartbreaking, and yes, I know everyone is going to say they chose their career path and made millions of dollars so what is the problem.

I am not sure if I was an NFL player and they told me the dangers of traumatic brain injuries if I retired if I would play. Here is a list of NFL players that walked away due to concussions and concerns over concussions and CTE.

Now here is a link I found on ESPN that say’s there’s players living with CTE.

Courtesy of ESPN – William Weinbaum.

This really concerns me, my thoughts about the future of the game of football. There is many NFL players saying they will not let their kids play football. I guess it is a catch 22 right. In one hand, you will be taking away talent but at least you can rule out CTE in a loved one.

The good news is the NFL have taken a stance on helmet to helmet hit’s and are very active and adamant on legal hits and hits to the head. Therefore, I guess the game is safe right.

Time will tell.

Should the NFL cancel Thursday Night Football?

Hello folks,

Back at it again.
I am going to discuss if the NFL should do away with Thursday Night Football.
There has been a lot of negative feedback mainly from players about games on Thursday nights. I personally love Thursday night football. Let us face it; there is nothing on TV on Thursdays. After work, I am actually excited go home crack open a brew and sit back and watch an NFL game, but, that is just the fan in me talking I guess. I could only imagine the toll it takes on these guys physically and mentally.
There has been a long list of players complaining about “TNF.” Richie Incognito from the Buffalo Bills, Richard Sherman, Doug Baldwin from the Seattle Seahawks and now Ben Roethlisberger to name a few.

What Roethlisberger says echoes pretty, much the sentiments from what many NFL Players are saying. See below. Quote by Ben Roethlisberger – Courtesy of Jeremy Fowler ESPN – and SB Nation.

Couple of years ago, I believed they should have gotten rid of TNF because let us face it the games were horrible. Low scoring, weird colored uniforms etc. Lately though the games have been great! Especially that Raiders vs Chiefs game 10-19 Score was 30- 31Raiders on a last minute TD by Derek Carr. Now not all games are like that but they are a lot better than a couple years back. I get the injuries part of it but that can happen on Any Given Sunday.

Should they cancel TNF? I do not think so. Why you ask? Okay I actually do not like talking about athlete’s salaries etc. however; these guys get paid millions of dollars to play Football! Not get up and go to a “regular” annoying job. The season is what only what 17 weeks? All teams I believe play ONE Thursday Night Game. C’mon, man they cannot suck it up for one game. Usually I always take the players side on everything but this one I do not think its fair. We only get X amount of NFL football then it is gone for another year. I believe it is the shortest season in all of the major leagues sports soooo in turn I’ll end this article with a please do NOT cancel TNF.

Thank you.

Jerry Jones and Ezekiel Elliott vs. the NFL/Roger Gooddell

Hello y’all.

I wonder if Jerry Jones vs. the NFL has anything to do with Ezekiel “ Zeke” Elliott. Now basing on what I’ve read and all the facts on the Zeke Elliott case I’m not sure if it warranted a 6 game suspension?!? Let’s be real here he was not charged in a court of law  and the accuser was quoted saying she was going to “ruin his career”  also sending a blackmailing text.

(See below) – Courtesy of CBS Sports.

Thompson: What if I sold mine and Ezekiel's sex videos
Friend: We'd all be millionaires
Friend: We could black mail him w that
Thompson: I want to bro
Friend: Let's do it
Thompson: Scared
Friend: S---
Friend: Id be like look give me 10k or I'll just sell our sex videos for the same amount flat
Friend: Me and my friends tryna go on vacation and get boob jobs . . . .
Thompson: 10k Bitch I want 20k
Thompson: Go big or go home
Friend: That's fine too

Hmmm Interesting… Now after gathering all the facts there’s been guys in the NFL who’s done  a lot  worse  have pending DV cases and have got just a slap on the wrist.

Here’s what I think. I think Roger Gooddell knew that Jerry Jones was actually against him and signing off on his extension since  the summer 2017,  hence the Zeke suspension that’s been ongoing which seems like an eternity . Why such a hefty 6 games suspension for a first time offender?

I’m not a Cowboys fan but it feels like there’s some sort of conspiracy against them. Any time they do well rushing the ball or Elliott has a good game… Low and behold the suspension is reinstated.

I have a feeling this is going to big, when Zeke Elliott said “this is bigger than football” I don’t think he was just talking about clearing his name. I read an article recently where he’s (Ezekiel Elliott) could cut two games off suspension by suing Roger Gooddell and NFL for defamation.

Courtesy of Yahoo Sports – Michael McCann Sports Illustrated. (See below).

“Earlier Thursday on The MMQB, I detailed how Jerry Jones could sue the NFL over his frustration with the Elliott suspension and Goodell’s handling of the national anthem issue. Jones, who is surely annoyed by Thursday’s legal ruling in the Elliott case, would sue in hopes of preventing Goodell from receiving a contract extension. As explained in the Jones article, the NFL would possess a number of strong arguments to defeat Jones’ claims. Even though the league would be poised to prevail, Jones could do damage along the way—particularly if he tries to organize a “vote of no confidence.”

Man what in the world is happening to the NFL…. Stay Tuned.

Current state of the NFL? CK!

Hey everyone,

Feels great to be back, it has been a few years since I posted anything on my blog but I feel given how things are going in the world and in the world of sports. It is time to return!
So please bear with me as I start up again, clear out the cobwebs and get my foot in the ground. I will be posting as much as I can for now and go from there.

My first order of business is the current state of the NFL. I have been watching this game since I was about 6-7 years old and played a bit of organized football throughout various parts of my life. I have seen the difficulties of the 90’s and when the sport was REALLY starting to take off in popularity. Now I’m not going to bore you of a come up story but I feel like the NFL of today is starting to “go down.” I don’t know if the powers that be is trying to humble the sport OR it’s just getting to big for its britches but football was the  one the sport where race didn’t matter. Where everyone can come together no matter what race and cheer for their favorite team without bringing race into it. Anyway, let us fast-forward to today… meaning this season and the current state of the NFL.

Here is the thing. I have to address the elephant in the room. I am a 49ERS fan. I have been one since my old man got me UpperDeck 1991 football cards. It was not because they won all the time or because the team was loaded. For some reason they I just fell in love with that team.
I am going to dive into the Kaepernick situation. Now I live in Canada and I have gone through this that or the other in regards to racism. I agree with his point and see what he is trying to do BUT I am I wrong for saying he should not have done this during games? I know when I voice this opinion to people I know, at the bar watching the game or to my friends. I guess I’m considered a black sheep so to speak but this is the game I come to get away from politics. I do not want to talk about politics during football games. Why? Everywhere I turn it is Trump this or Trudeau that or this is happening or etc. The one place I can come and tune the world off. Have a beer it is not the case anymore. In all honesty, I rather wish this would all go away however, when I say that I am not addressing the “issues.” I guess it is a catch 22 because I always wondered why some of these famous athletes do not use their fame for causes. Now in a weird way I get my wish. Therefore, I guess I should not complain right.
Slowly but surly I have a feeling this will end when the NFL’s bottom line is truly affected… Which is $$$$. Well there is my 2 cents about this situation.

Have to admit it feels good to be back! Stay tuned for my text topic…

Feel free to comment.

Till next time. Peace.  Joe Jeremiah
